Franklin County Court Days is the 3rd annual event. Starting at 3:00 PM, The Farmers Market will feature local and regional bands playing traditional music, family friendly games/activities, and multiple food and craft vendors. At 3:00 PM, The Harvester will host Rex Stephenson and Company who will treat us to a play based on the Ingle family saga of Ms. Ingles who was captured by Indians, escaped, and returned home. The Richards family will present storytelling of their Endicott families who lived during the height of moonshine activities. At 7:00 PM, a headliner band will perform live on a stage in the middle of Franklin Street close to The Farmers Market.

VIRGINIA SHERIFF'S INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIPS NOW OPEN

The Virginia Sheriff's Institute Scholarship procedure is now open. Please note that the process for applying for the Virginia Sheriff's Institute scholarship is being conducted completely online this year. The deadline for application is May, 1, 2018. If you are interested in applying, you will need a letter of recommendation from Sheriff Overton. Please contact Captain Phillip Young at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with your name, address and telephone number. You will be contacted by the Sheriff's Office to schedule an appointment with Sheriff Overton. SHERIFF'S OFFICE OFFERS PISTOL FIREARMS TRAINING

NRA Basic Pistol Training Course is being offered by the Franklin County Sheriff's Office on March 17, 2018. Cost of class is $50 per person and is due DAY OF CLASS. Cost includes instruction, materials, range qualifications and certificate of completion. Each participant will receive a hardback copy of NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting to take home with them. Philpott Lake will, once again, be the site for the Franklin County Sheriff's Office 7th Annual Bass Fishing Tournament to benefit Virginia Special Olympics. Past years have been great in helping these athletes achieve their dreams. Sheriff Overton said, "We are so honored to be partnering with VSO again this year. To see the hard work and effort each of these Special Olympic athletes put into their individual sport is so inspiring to all. CRASE (Citizen's Response to Active Shooter Events) The class will be held at the Franklin Center, 50 Claiborne Avenue in Rocky Mount and Sheriff Overton is making it FREE to all who pre-register.
