The Franklin County Sheriff's Office employs over 100 members, including both sworn and non-sworn personnel, and is responsible for ensuring that the citizens of Franklin County receive emergency services in a timely and efficient manner.

The Sheriff's Office maintains a number of internal divisions within the organization that deliver a variety of law related services to more than 56,000 citizens of the County.  Uniformed personnel also ensure that more than 728 square miles of land mass and waterways are provided with a marked police presence on a daily basis.

Our offices are located beside the Courthouse Complex at 70 East Court Street, Rocky Mount, Virginia.

SHERIFF OVERTON ANNOUCES CITIZENS ACADEMY 2108

Sheriff Bill Overton announces the 2018 Citizen's Academy, offering this training FREE to the public. There is an application procedure. Classes begin on August 14th and end on October 30 and all classes are on Tuesdays (once a week). In the "View All Flyers", above, you will see the application. If interested, please fill out the back section and email, postal mail or bring by the Sheriff's Office. These classes are fantastic and you are guaranteed to learn things about the Office of the Sheriff you never knew. Plus, all graduates are allowed to apply for our COPS program, where you can volunteer some time to be very involved in our office. Class has a limited, so get you application in soon. Contact Sgt. FCSO CONDUCTS DRUG INTERDICTION

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office conducted a drug interdiciton in several areas of our county recently. Arrests included DUI, possession of marijuana, possession of cociane, warrant service, possession with intent to distribute methamphetimine and many others. May 8th - The Franklin County Sheriff's Office released a statement and memo pretaining to scams in our area. Sheriff Bill Overton released a memo and a 10 point statement concerning how to protect yourself from potential scammers. Scammers have attempted tax refund scams, lottery scams, bail money scams, utilities scams and many, many more. Another NRA Pistol Course will be offered by the Franklin County Sheriff's Office on Saturday, May 19th. On this website, look above and find "View All Flyers Here". The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for our area from around noon on Sunday, April 15th until midnight. A strong cold front is approaching our area from the west and will pass thur our region tonight. With the rain, there will also be high winds and powerful gusts. As with storms of this nature, there could be potential small stream flooding, flying debris and downed power lines. The Franklin County Sheriff's encourage everyone to stay off the roadways this afternoon and tonight. Stay in touch with your local weather media source.
